DOG TRAINING
Puppy School
This is a six week course where your puppy will learn to develop important life skills without adult consequences. Running, hiding, jumping and other playful antics all of which will be invaluable later when he/she is out on walks, in the car and at the vets etc.
Play is one of the best ways to teach desirable behaviour to your puppy by setting standards for a lifetime. During the classes you will learn how to build towards calm and controlled behaviour, play will incorporate obedience training techniques and provide an opportunity for constructive interaction with practical purpose.
You will enjoy learning how to teach your puppy behaviours such as sitting when asked, lying down, and coming when called, to stay calm while being handled. Health issues will be covered by the practice veterinarian along with trimming toenails and grooming.
Throughout the course you will learn how to recognise and prevent problems in behaviour before they get out of hand. Advice will be given on a wide range of topics such as what to do with your puppy when visitors call, travelling your pet, how children should behave when in the company of puppies and adult dogs. We also provide you with our Puppy Manual full of advice to get you through the puppy period

Companion Dog 1 – Beginner
The Companion Dog Course is for dogs over 16 weeks of age that are just beginning training. This is a foundation course where you will learn to teach your dog to pay attention when asked, greet politely, come when called, walk on a loose leash and lie down and stay. Management skills, socialisation and problem solving will also be stressed. Classes are limited to 8, fun for you and your dog and very effective.
Companion Dog 2 – Novice
This course is the next step for owners who are graduating from Companion Dog 1. It’s where training moves up a gear and performance is now required with added distraction. Here owners will learn Heel on leash, Stand for Examination, Recall off Leash Sit Stay and Down Stay. Drop from a distance.

Companion Dog 3 – Intermediate
This is a fortnightly class which is for the dog enthusiast who loves to learn and train real ‘working dog’ skills such as Automatic Sit at Heel, Come Front; Retrieving assorted articles, Carrying and retrieving the dumbbell, jumping the solid, the bar and the broad jump and Carrying a dumbbell while jumping the solid, the bar and the broad jump. Long Sit Stay, Long Down Stay, Drop on Recall.

Companion Dog 4 - Advanced

Owners can determine how far they wish to go from basic obedience to high off lead level of control to competitive standards.
One-on-One Sessions
If you have a rescue dog or an older dog that has not had any social interaction or formal training then it would be my recommendation to begin with a private lesson where I can work with you to develop a level of control and confidence before joining group classes.
Some dogs are not suitable for group training due to aggression or fear and private lessons will enable you to get better control without the stress of other dogs and people.
Behavioural Consultations
If you have concerns about your dog's behavior such as:
• Aggression towards other dogs or humans
• Fears and Phobias
• House soiling
• Separation Anxiety
You can schedule a behavior consultation with me. This consultation usually lasts about two hours, during which I will evaluate your dog and take a detailed behavioral and health history. We discuss your concerns and determine realistic goals for a positive outcome. I will work with you to develop a treatment plan for you and your pet and give you the tools to get you started. Many simple issues can be resolved in one visit.
For more serious problems, treatment may involve some or all of the following:
• Follow up consults
• Private training
• Group lessons
• Veterinary treatment

Reactive Dog Classes
This class provides the owner of reactive dogs with the skills and techniques they need to improve their dogs behaviour.
Working through this programme owners learn how to keep their dogs attention, control barking and growling, stop lunging and over excited behaviours.
All classes are held in a safe environment and training is none confrontational for dogs or owners and methods are kind and positive.
In Home Consultations
If you prefer training at home I can come to you. I recommend 4 x 90 minutes consultation booked to suit your needs and available times.
